Do some good this weekend: Since 2006, Macy's Shop For A Cause has partnered with schools and area nonprofits nationwide to raise more than $45 million for ongoing charitable efforts. Woodbridge residents get a chance to take part by picking up $5 shopping passes from do-gooder groups, earning discounts and the satisfaction that comes from making a positive difference in the community. The event takes place all day at the Woodbridge Center Mall Macy's.
Teens are the focus of the New Jersey/New York Teenage Expo, a free family event offering a view of what's trending for those between the ages of 13 and 19. You'll find lots of back to school shopping, food and workshops for teens, parents and teachers. There is fun too: Enjoy face painting, balloon sculptors, a free photo booth and a dance competition for parents and teachers. Vendors will be on hand to sell their wares and look for a contest in which you could win back to school cash! (What parent would say no to a windfall in time for the new school year?) The expo takes place Saturday from 3-9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at the New Jersey Convention and Expo Center, 97 Sunfield Ave. in Edison. To get free tickets, visit Eventbrite.
