Menlo Park Vets Home Needs Volunteers For JerseyCares Day

Got some time to spare on May 5? Vets in Menlo Park need you.

Camp Kiddie Keep Well is all full up, but the nearby Menlo Park Veterans Home still has room for help.

Both sites are on the volunteer target list of Jersey Cares Day, an annual service event that brings volunteers and worthwhile projects together across the state to help do some good and raise money for the parent organization.

This year it's on Saturday, May 5. Times vary depending on the project.

Volunteers have poured in for Camp Kiddie Keep Well's activity, which involved planting in the greenhouse. The Menlo Park vets home, though, is looking for 150 volunteers to spread some cheer and good will for the residents.

Now in its 14th year, JerseyCares is looking to recruit volunteers to do some socializing with the veterans at the Menlo Park home. They're looking for people to step up and play some bingo, host a fitness workshop, lead a sing-a-long, help vets with writing their life stories, or just do some arts and crafts.

Teams are welcome, but individual volunteers can participate, too.Β There is no cost to participate, however, volunteers are asked to make a $5 donation to help coverΒ the costs of the event (including a t-shirt).

Go to the JerseyCares site, click on the "register here" button, and you're good to go. The deadline to volunteer is April 27.
