Bowling for Hunger, Gym Memberships for the Military in Five Things

How to keep cool and busy while having fun in the dog days of summer.

  1. The 2nd annual "Bowl for Hunger" Charity Event to benefit the 19th Legislative District takes place tonight at the Woodbridge Bowling Center on Main St. between 5:30 and 10 pm.   For more info, contact the office of Assemblyman Craig J. Coughlin at 732-855-7441.
  2. The Club at Woodbridge will be offering to the immediate family members ages 13 and older of actively deployed Reservists and National Guard members. The Club is also offering all active duty military who are on leave free memberships for up to two months. Military ID is required. For more info, call Deb Zirpolo at 732-634-5000.
  3. An outdoor basketball league for ages 11 to 14 is being held today from 6 pm to 8 pm at Lucey Park in Perth Amboy. The program is sponsored by the Perth Amboy Dept. of Recreation. For more info, call 732-826-1690, ext. 4305.
  4. The Woodbridge Public Library is offering a summer class called , an intro course using Microsoft Office Word 2007 and  the use of fonts, spacing, margins, and saving documents. The class is $5 and starts at 7 pm. Students must be able to use a mouse and have basic typing experience. For more info and to register, call 732-634-4450 ext. 7120. 
  5. Time for Summer Teen Reading. The Woodbridge Library's reading program continues with ", an international-themed event to get teens into cracking open a book.
