Solar Power, a flair that's burning a hole in School Budgets!

The following link to a report about the difficulties school districts, like Woodbridge, are facing is a must read for residents and taxpayers in Woodbridge Township, and beyond.

As one of the indiiduals who supported the Woodbridge School District's referundum on the school roof replacements and solar panel installation, I believe the school district,  and the voters that passed the referundum, made a sound decision, based on the facts that were avaiable at that time.  In fact, despite Woodbridge Twp (municipal solar panels) having an $600.00/SREC (expired may 2012) in place at the time the voters approved the BOE's referendum, the BOE used a $300.00 rate.  Unfortunately, even that conservative projection has proven to be unsautainable in the current SREC market.

What will happen to the SREC market in the future depends on what the government and industry does.  In the interim, the school district will have to adjust accordingly.  But at least, the district's panels are offsetting the district's utilitiy cost and less fossil fuels are being burned.
