STOP the SHOW!

Do Woodbridge politician prefer Opaque to Transparent in government-to-electorate forums ?

Woodbridge, NJ has, at taxpayer expense, TV35! So why shouldn't the citizens of this township expect, no, demand, the broadcast of the town council meetings be on our TV station?  Shouldn't the public, when speaking, get equal camera time, such as that which is afforded to our elected officials and administration employees?

It is possible it was John McCormac, or one of his staff posted the string shown below on what many feel is a the ‘best’ example of a ‘poor man’s’ forum on the web.  While I must admit I also post on that forum, I do so under my own name and because it allows me to suggest credible forums, like Patch, to others.  ( I believe informed voters, like informed buyers, make better choices!)

Tom must be frantic at the thought that he might not get his TV time on Channel 35. Keep it up Tom - first your antics lead to the moving of the microphone to the back of the council chambers and maybe, just maybe, a member of the administration (who you chide for being online during work time) will take my comments on ending the taping to heart.

Wouldn't it be something if it was Tom's legacy that ended that practice?

STOP the SHOW

Say it isn't so!  If that happened, how would the useless, self-serving, rubber stamping council be able to tell the community about all the money Mac and Company have told them to spend on everything Mac and Co want.  What would be the purpose of Mac showing up at the council meetings to bloviate, if his TV audience couldn't see him.

And what about the "Agenda" session portion of the town council meeting?  You know, the portion were council members read their old, tired, almost never changing Agendas.  (Poor John Mitch must have a 1,000 of each council members Agenda's first page preprinted; hell they never change!)  Just look at how long Charley Kenny has had the same description for the Fencing and Lighting at the Sewaren Dog park heading his agenda.  Three years later and the place is still a contaminated crap hole, made even worse after the Motiva oil spill?  And how would poor Brenda tell her audience about the trees, the birds and bees, and to keep Mac's $9K+ photo-op post card about recycling on their refrigerators?  How would Gregg Ficarra talk about Mac's" Lose a Ton" (Mac should try it) health programs.?  And how would Kyle "Easy Rider" Anderson tell everyone about upcoming sports and parades?  Oh, just the thought of those faces and reports going dark is almost to must to bear!  Oh, the non-transparency of it all!

Then again, perhaps the town council or McCormac should pull the plug on TV 35's coverage of the town council meetings, and everything else related to McCormac and Co self-aggrandizing promos.  They could claim it was done to cut costs, since Mac doesn't seem to be getting much juice (money) out of the solar panels, no matter how hard he squeezes.  Ditto the putt-putt course!  Then, in November the electorate could shuffle Mac's cards on the town council.  If that happened, everyone could get their popcorn and enjoy the shows, after the power was restored to the people!
