On a beautiful Sunday in September it was a treat to capture some pictures at the Sewaren boat ramp and park. Ruddy, the Woodbridge Twp. part-time boat ramp steward, was there working and enjoying the day with some friends, several boaters, fisherman and those just enjoying the park setting.
On Sunday, October 28, the last day the boat ramp was opened for the 2012 boating season, the winds were blowing and making things difficult for boaters who were hauling their boats. Ruddy was at his post directing boaters who were putting their boats on trailers. Mr. Dennis Henry, Woodbridge Twp. Director, Public Works, was also on hand to supervise the removal of the floating dock and to ensure the park was prepared for Hurricane Sandy.
On Monday morning, between 7- 10 A.M., the scene at the boat ramp and, in fact, all around the Woodbridge and Perth Amboy area, was far from picturesque; as can be seen from the photos that accompany this post.
What the pictures will look like after Hurricane Sandy wreaks its havoc on our community, and so many others, one can only imagine. Hopefully, those pictures will not be tragic! That said, may God bless and protect us all and, most certainly, those that will be in harm’s way in their efforts to protect life and property of others!
