Nice Job Breaking It, Gov. Christie!

Taxes don't help NJ residents. Really.

The next time someone tells me that Chris Christie is a conservative, I'm going to hit them over the head with an Amazon box.

New Jersey's 'conservative' governor . Now we all know you're supposed to report sales tax on out-of-state purchases, and remit it to the state Treasury Department.

You do that, don't you? Don't you?

Well, now New Jersey's 'conservative' governor is going to take care of that little chore for you, in case it slips your mind. Christie's deal with Amazon has to do with the retailer building two warehouses in New Jersey in an as-yet unknown location, which he thinks will create tons of temporary construction jobs, and 1,500 minimum wage warehouse jobs to put New Jersey residents back to work.
It'll be great competition for all the dollar store jobs and convenience store jobs that New Jersey is rife with.

Speaking of dollar stores, the Amazon workers will be able to shop there. The great buys on Amazon don't look that great when you're making minimum wage and now you have to pay sales tax on your purchases.

Amazon's free shipping once you reach $25 isn't going to mean much, because now your purchase will ring up at $26.75 with tax.

Sure, that extra $1.75 isn't much - unless you're one of the Amazon minimum wage warehouse workers.

The 'conservative' governor estimates that the sales tax will bring in between $30 to $40 million. Will it? There are still tons of businesses with no physical presence in NJ who don't charge sales tax. In tough economic times, money is fungible. People who want to save money on big ticket purchases simply won't buy them from Amazon anymore.

That will cost Amazon some money. But it's all good: NJ's 'conservative' governor made another deal with Amazon to give them taxpayer-subsidized handouts to build the two new warehouses!

You got that, dear reader? You'll be paying the sales tax to Amazon, while you are also subsidizing Amazon's new NJ warehouses.

Hey, if you're lucky, you'll get one of the minimum wage warehouse jobs. Maybe they give discounts to employees. (Just don't forget to pay the sales tax on your way out.)

NJ's 'conservative' governor did what even former Gov. Jon Corzine - the big spending leftist who misplaced $200 million at MF Global - couldn't do: he's opened the door for Internet sales tax collections.

If Mitt Romney picks NJ's 'conservative' governor for his ticket this November, that's going to tell me everything I'll ever need to know about Mitt Romney.

Christie is getting to be a lot like Jim McGreevey, who also had national aspirations back in his Trenton salad days. Let's not keep him in NJ! Let's SHARE him with the world!

And get our 'conservative' governor off our backs.
