The Civil War is in Parker Press Park Today
It's free, fun, and educational - a great way to spend a summer Sunday for the entire family
In the mood for something nearby, fun, and free? The Robert E. Lee Civil War Roundtable of Central New Jersey is holding the second day of its Living History Weekend at the on Rahway Avenue.
The reenactment, full of Civil War soldiers, arms, tents, and more, takes place today from 10 am to 4 pm.
The Roundtable hosts the event every year, but this one is special: it's the 150th anniversary of some battles and skirmishes of the Civil War, which began in 1861 and was fought through 1865.

Interesting exhibitions for the encampment include:
- Soldiers' drill
- Weapons demonstration
- Battlefield skirmish
- Military demonstration
- Military life
- Period civilian life
- Civil War displays and activities
There will also be vendors selling goods, a Civil War library, and a period photographer for those who wish to memorialize the event.
