The events kick off Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Sewaren waterfront.

Get your lawn chairs and blankets ready for the annual fireworks display at Alvin P. Memorial Park in Sewaren on Wednesday.

Gates open at 4 p.m. and around 9 p.m. a fireworks display choreographed to music will set off.

The Township of Woodbridge and the “We Share, We Care Foundation” sponsors the annual celebration.

Mayor John McCormac said he is excited to announce the Woodbridge display, one of the largest in the state, he said.

“Woodbridge Township is home to dozens of military personnel currently serving overseas and to military veterans who served and protected America’s freedom and democracy in conflicts around the world,” McCormac said. “It is to those brave military personnel and veterans that we dedicate this year’s Independence Day celebration.”

Attendees will enjoy a live performance by the “The Party Dolls” and the National Anthem sung by this year’s Woodbridge Idol, Chrysanthe Haliotis.

Additionally, Woodbridge Police issues a warning that private uses of fireworks are illegal. The department will respond to complaints of fireworks use, the township stated, those involved can be arrested, fined and have the illegal fireworks confiscated.

The park remains closed for set up throughout the day on Wednesday. No alcoholic beverages are permitted at the park. Rain date is July 5.
