Woodbridge Wrestling Falls to Rahway Despite Four Wins by Pin

The boys basketball team dropped two games at a weekend tournament at Kean University.

The Woodbridge High School wrestling team scored four pinfalls and a major decision, but it wasn’t enough in the team’s 42-31 loss to Rahway on Saturday, according to nj.com.

The Barrons scored pinfalls in the three lowest weight classes. Jack Quinn pinned Isaias Santos in three minutes, 59 seconds at 106 pounds.

At 113, Joseph Marty pinned Mike Elliot in 2:29, and Bobby Jordan pinned Rony Rutere in 1:08.

Woodbridge’s Zackary Cottrell scored the final pinfall at 170 pounds. He pinned Tari Wilson in 5:01.

Bryan McLaughlin scored a 9-1 major decision over David Winters at 138 pounds.

Woodbridge’s final points came at 195 pounds when Vincent Zecchino defeated Andre Marques, 7-2.

Rahway came up with five pins to come away with the victory.

Boys basketball

Woodbridge dropped to 3-3 following a pair of losses at the Scholarship Fund for Inner-City Children Festival at Kean University over the weekend, according to nj.com.

Zahneer Shuler dropped 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the Barrons’ 72-48 loss to Sayreville on Saturday. He also had a three-pointer.

The following day Josh Olowookere had 13 points, including three three-pointers, two rebounds and a steal in an 82-45 loss to St. Joseph Metuchen. Shuler had 10 points, two rebounds and two steals in the loss.
