Woodbridge, JFK Baseball Teams Advance in State Tournament

Both Woodbridge and JFK will move on to the next round of the tournament.

Woodbridge defeated Somerville during the first round of the NJSIAA Baseball Tournament, while JFK defeated Newark East moving both teams onto the second round of the tournament.

Woodbridge, who is part of the Central Jersey Group 3, won 3-1 on Monday and will match up against Lawrence on Friday.

According to NJ.com, Jesse Lammers went 2-for-3 with a home run, double and two RBI. Also, Woodbridge’s Nick Bradshaw allowed a run on six hits, seven strikeouts and five walks in seven innings.

JFK beat out Newark East 7-1 in the North Jersey Section 2, Group 3 on Tuesday and will face Roxbury Friday.

Joe Stone of JFK allowed one run with seven strikeouts and went 2-for-4 with an RBI on Tuesday, according to NJ.com.  Also, Adonis Hernandez, Tom Farley and Matt DeParis each had two doubles for the Mustangs.

Colonia lost to South Plainfield on Tuesday and the team will not move forward in the tournament.
