Woodbridge Boys' Basketball Team off to 3-0 Start

Two wrestlers captured individual titles at the Arthur O. Marinelli tournament over the weekend.

The Woodbridge High School boys’ basketball team remained undefeated at 3-0 with a 61-45 win over Franklin, according to nj.com.

Zahneer Shuler accounted for about half the Barrons’ points when he compiled 30. He hit four three-pointers in the contest.

Woodbridge struggled to find a spark in the first half when it had 19 points. The Barrons surpassed that mark in the third quarter alone with 20 points and finished strong with 22 points in the fourth quarter.

Woodbridge overcame a 12-point first quarter deficit to defeat Pope John, 56-51, according to nj.com.

Pope John jumped out to a 19-7 lead in the first quarter, but the Barrons turned the tables with a 15-7 second quarter. In the second half, Woodbridge outscored Pope John, 34-25.

Woodbridge is 2-1 this season.

Wrestling

Woodbridge advanced three wrestlers to finals and took home two championships at the Arthur O. Marinelli tournament,  according to nj.com.

Bobby Jordan won the 113-pound title with a 4-2 win over West Deptford’s Griffin Bonner in the final.

Bryan McLaughlin claimed the 138-pound title with a 6-1 win in the final over Williamstown’s Tom Moss.

Darius Boyer advanced to the heavyweight final, where he dropped a 6-1 decision to Absegami’s Roman Rudisill.

As a team, Woodbridge finished 10th with 73 points in the 14-team field. Clearview won the title with 194.5 points.
