WFAN Hosting Sportscaster Tryouts in Edison

If you've always wanted to be on sports radio, head down to Menlo Park Mall tonight at 6 PM.

Do you have designs on being the next Chris "Mad Dog" Russo?  Can you and a pal talk sports with the same veracity and intensity as Boomer & Carton?  If your answer is a resounding "Yes!" you may want to head down to Menlo Park Mall tonight for the first round of WFAN's "Fantasy Phenom Challenge."

For the third consecutive year, WFAN sports radio (660 AM) is giving local sports fans a chance to show they have what it takes to earn a spot on their roster of sports yakkers.

Those interested (18 and over, naturally) should report to the lower level Center Court of Menlo Park Mall by 6 PM Thursday, where up to 100 potential future sports talk superstars will have the chance to pontificate on local sports to a panel of judges.  A select number from all area try-outs - Edison is the second of three try-out locations - will move on to a call-back round.

Eventually, five finalists will be chosen to compete at WFAN personality Mike Francesa's "End of Summer" beach party and radio show broadcast at Bar A in Lake Como in late August.

The ultimate winner gets his or her own weekly show on WFAN.  All of the specifics are available on WFAN's website.

In past years, contestants were required to show off their personality and sports knowledge solo; this year, the contest is open to duos, so grab your football-watching buddy and be ready to offer up your opinions on Tim Tebow, Derk Jeter, Carmelo Anthony, Martin Brodeur, and all of the local sports teams.
