A fluke tournament to benefit the Pavey family will take place June 16 from 6 am to 5 pm at . Taylor Pavey, who has been diagnosed with the muscle disease dermatomyositis has developed lung disease and cataracts. The seven year old currently requires steroid treatments and chemotherapy to manage her medical condition. All proceeds from the tournament will help the family defray medical costs.
The cost is $125 and cash prizes of up to $1,000 for a first place win will be awarded.
Rules and Regulations are as follows:
Cancellation information: This is a captain’s choice tournament; it is up to the captain to determine if his or her craft is seaworthy for existing conditions. The captain is responsible for all members of his crew both on and off the ocean. The fishing day may be cancelled if gale warnings are issued by the Coast Guard. If cancelled on June 16, the tournament will be held on June 23. If the second date needs to be cancelled, the winners will be determined through a random drawing;
There is a mandatory captain’s meeting on June 15 at 7 pm at the Woodbridge Elks #2116, 655 Rahway Avenue;
The entry fee will allow for six anglers per boat including captain. Any additional angler is $20;
Start time is 6 am;
No fish will be weighed after 5 pm;
Awards will be presented at 5:30 pm;
Prizes will be based on the weight of the largest fish, and
Contest is subject to state and federal regulations.
Please note that any boat seen giving another boat a fish will be disqualified. Any fish considered suspicious by the tournament staff will be disqualified from the tournament and the captain’s name recorded.
