Celebrate Plays In The Park's 50th Anniversary

On August 12 starting at 1 pm, Plays in the Park in Roosevelt Park in Edison will celebrate its 50 year milestone with special events.

Balloon sculptors, magicians and vendors will be a part of the festivities in addition to free concerts during the day, culminating in a performance by John Sebastian of the 1960s group, the Lovin' Spoonful. 

The schedule of events is as follows:

  • 1 pm - Magicians, Clowns, Face Painters, Balloon Sculptors, Costumed Characters and Food Vendors will fill the shaded grove surrounding the theater 
  • 1:30 - 3 pm - Concert performance by the Broadway Pops Orchestra
  • 3:45 - 4:45 pm - Concert performance by StarFish! (Rock & Roll for Kids)
  • 5 pm - Gates open to the main theater seating area
  • 5:45 pm - Official program begins
  • 6 - 8 pm - Concert performance by John Sebastian (In case of rain, the Sebastian concert will be held at Middlesex County College.)

 

The amphitheatre is located at 1 Pine Drive in Roosevelt Park off Route 1 South in Edison.

Remember to bring nonperishable food donations or unused toiletries with you to benefit county residents through M.C.F.O.O.D.S.  There are over 60 food pantries and soup kitchens throughout the county in the M.C.F.O.O.D.S. network. The food banks are in particular need of cereal, tuna fish, rice, canned vegetables, stew, peanut butter, snacks and personal products such as toothpaste, shampoo, diapers and wipes.
