Colonia Football Team Edges South Plainfield

Woodbridge fell to Carteret, 33-7.

Pharoah Napoleon threw a pair of touchdown passes to Tenni Adewusi to lead the Colonia High School football team to a 24-21 win over South Plainfield, according to nj.com.

Their first connection came with Colonia already trailing, 6-0. Napoleon hit Adewusi on a 25-yard pass to tie the game. The two then hooked up on the two-point conversion to give Colonia an 8-6 lead.

In the second quarter, a 30-yard pass from Napoleon to Adewusi added to Colonia's lead. Adewusi then hit a pass to Sam Pero on the two-point conversion for a 16-6 lead.

Adewusi then ran 29 yards for a score in the fourth quarter. He also ran in the two-point conversion.

Chase Barneys had an interception for Colonia, which improved to 5-1, and hosts Raritan Friday night, 7 p.m.

Carteret 33, Woodbridge 7: Griffin Thomas returned an interception 38 yards for Woodbridge's only score of the game. Woodbridge fell to 2-4, and visits Iselin Kennedy on Friday night, 7 p.m.

Colonia 2, Woodbridge 1: Colonia broke a 1-1 tie in the second overtime period to walk away with the victory.

Brandon Bras and Jacob Szlachta each scored in the win. Ryan Litterer and Derek Phells split time in goal, making seven and four saves, respectively.

Juwan Ogunjobi had Woodbridge’s only goal, with an assist from Steven Luzuriaga. Woodbridge goalie Rob Parker made 11 saves. Sean Torres made four stops.

J.P. Stevens 2, Woodbridge 1: Corinne Kist’s goal put Woodbridge on the board in the second half following a 0-0 halftime tie. Hadiza Mamman had the assist.

Woodbridge goalie Maura Walsh made nine saves.

Monroe 3, Woodbridge 1: Hadiza Mamman found the back of the net with an assist from Casey Nebus. Goalie Maura Walsh made 11 saves. She split time in goal with Daina Zeliff, who made one stop.
