Woodbridge Township Releases Revised 2013-14 School Calendar

School now ends on June 20.

In order to end school earlier next year, the Board of Education made some changes to the originally proposed school calendar, including taking away some holidays.

The first day of school is now on Sept. 4 and students have off on the 6th for Rosh Hashanah. Instead of having a full President's Weekend, students and staff have off for only President's Day on February 17.

A half-day was added on Dec. 23, but fall break in November was kept in tact, Superintendent Dr. Robert Zega said, understanding that families plan vacations during that week.

"June 20 is better for the students," he said. "Especially in high school where not all classrooms are air conditioned."

Zega added that he hopes now that the calendar is set, it will not go through changes throughout the year, depending on the weather.

The Board announced they are already working on the 2014-2015 school year.
