HSPA Passing Percentages Down From Previous Years

Less Woodbridge Township students passed the test this year.

The amount of township students who passed the High School Proficiency Assessment in 2013 is down from the past two years.

The Board of Education announced on Thursday evening that overall for the Township 92 percent passed the language arts portion and 86.4 passed the math portion. However, the comparisons from nearby areas and the state overall have not been received yet, the board stated.

In 2012, 97 percent of students passed the language arts portion and 94.6 percent in math. While in 2011, 97.1 percent passed in language arts and 89.4 in math.

The breakdown for each school is as follows:

Language Arts
Colonia – 90.3 percent
JFK – 95.1 percent
Woodbridge – 90.4 percent

Math
Colonia – 85.5 percent
JFK – 90.5 percent
Woodbridge – 83 percent

Hopefully this verifies that there was cheating the previous years - but I am sure the BOE will put its own twist on the numbers and blame the test itself....

Should not surprise you as we all know the BOE will never take the blame for anything.
