Heat Wave Continues; Schools Out Early for A Second Day

The National Weather Service is predicting a heat index touching 100 degrees today.

We're in for another scorcher.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the central New Jersey area again. Temperatures yesterday reached record-breaking heights weeks before summer has even officially started.

Today the heatwave is expected to reach temperatures in the mid to high 90s by afternoon. The heat advisory is in effect until 8 pm.

A hot and humid air mass is expected that may raise the heat index to as high as 100 degrees. A predicted stretch of thunderstorms tonight might break the scorching temps.

Woodbridge schools will again be operating on an early dismissal schedule, according to the school district's website.Β

All three high schools will be dismissed at 12:10 pm. Middle schools will be let out at 12:45 pm, while students in grades 1 through 5 will be leave at 1:10 pm.Β 

The AM kindergarteners and AM pre-school disabled will both be sent home at 11:35 am; PM Kindergarten and PM pre-school disabled will begin at 10:30 am and will be dismissed at 1:10 pm. All after school child care for the district is cancelled.

The elderly, the infirm, children, and pets are at highest risk during times of extreme heat. Those at risk are caution to stay out of the sun, stay hydrated, and seek air-conditioned areas to cool off.
