Rutgers’ University Wide Blood Drive to Raise Funds for Eric LeGrand Believe Fund
On February 15, 2011 from 4:oopm -11:00pm, the Rutger's University student's are sponsoring a blood drive and simultaneously raising funds for injured football player Eric LeGrand. They are attempting to collect 1,050 pints of blood and regain the title for sponsoring the largest university one-day blood drive in the northeast. This blood drive will take place on four campuses. The NJ Blood Services (NJBS) in New Brunswick, a division of the New York Blood Center (NYBC), will be holding this all-campus blood drive at four Rutgers locations and donating $2 per donor to the Eric LeGrand Believe Fund.
Students, faculty, alumni and community residents are being urged to roll up their sleeves and donate blood at College Avenue Recreation Center, Sonny Werblin Recreation Center on the Busch Campus, the Livingston Recreation Center, or at the Cook/Douglass Gym.
In keeping with last years pint for a pint blood drive theme, the first 250 donors at each location will receive a RU pint glass which will be filled with ice cream donated by Thomas Sweets shop on George Street in New Brunswick. Eligible donors must be at least 16 years of age with parental consent, who weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and are in good health. Anyone with tattoos or body piercings are eligible to donate provided the procedures were done in a licensed facility. Participants over 75 years of age, who are in good health, may donate with a doctor’s note.
