Historic African American Featured in Book Lecture

The Historical Association of Woodbridge Township will feature the author Gordon Bond at the Port Reading Firehouse on June 25 at 7:30 pm. The firehouse is located at 916 West Avenue. Bond will discuss Thomas Mundy Peterson who was the first African American to cast a vote under the 15th Amendment in 1870.

Gordon's most recent book, the "North Jersey Legacies" includes a chapter on Thomas Mundy Peterson who was born in the Borough of Metuchen which was originally a section of Woodbridge Township and in later years, lived in the City of Perth Amboy, according to wikipedia.org.

Gordon Bond also penned a book on James Parker, a Revolutionary War patriot and a Woodbridge Founding Father.
