Opening, Closing, and Moving - Stores Around Woodbridge Never Static

Don't close your eyes, or a store will transform itself before your eyes.

Three Woodbridge stores are in the process of opening, closing, and in one case, moving next door for bigger headquarters.

Electronics Expo's Woodbridge store is in the process of closing. A store associate said they were "transferring their operations to their Wayne store."

The store, located at the Crosspointe Center, closed up quickly after a "going out of business" sale. A sign pasted on the door recently said, "We Are Closed. Go to Our Union Store," and then gave the address and phone number.

On a brighter note, Five Below - a store geared towards teens and pre-teens where every sells for five bucks and under - is moving into the bigger, empty store left when Destination Baby closed up shop. It's right next to its current location at Crosspointe Center, across from Wegmans.

The Five Below grand opening in their new digs is slated for November 2.

, is expected to open its new store in the Fords section of Woodbridge around November 1. The store is adjacent to the new Wawa combo convenience store and gas station.

Please dont give the mayor anymore ideas

The Mayor and the Council should spend some time on Main St. as it slowly dies. They have no plan for the future. Just the same b/s. Take a ride around the township and look at the closed businesses. We needed a golf course like we need a hole in the head.

I agree. There are more closed stores than ones re-opening. Looks like a ghost town. Some one is sleeping somewhere, and I hope when they wake they'll be people left in Woodbridge

@hd1981: are you kidding me? What is the mayor suppossed to do to get people to shop Main Street? The only thing that can be done is trying to attract people to Woodbridge. That was but one of the facets of the Golf Course. Other than that, it is up to the business owners themselves to attract customers to their shops. Customers who would rather shop in malls. What I jsut descibed to you is called Capitalism, something of which you know very little about.

@olga: business fails when the business owner does not offer a good or service that is more appealing or competitive that the other guy. The only way a mom and pop store can compete with the bigger retailers is to offer superior customer service or offer a niche product. There many, many examples of small sucessful businesses in Woodbridge. The ones who fail to compete go out of business. See my above post.

slyfox1961 has no clue that the town stop new stores or businesses come to main street . If the new business dosn't fit into the Mayor's idea of whats good for Main St you won't get approved. Sounds like big brother has too much to say. So were is your Capitilism ? Thats why there are no new businesses. Hope you learned something about the ways of Woodbridge. So enjoy the vacant stores.

@hd 1981: back up what you are saying with proof of fact, because if I understand your grammatically incorrect statement, I don't believe you.
hd 1981 October 22, 2012 at 06:23 PM
slyfox 1961 stay in the class room and grade some papers. I don't care if you don't believe the truth.
slyfox1961 October 22, 2012 at 07:30 PM
@hd 1981: you stated that MAC has to "approve" any business that wants to move into a vacant building on Main Street. I asked you to provide the process by which this occurs, and you are unable to, as I had suspected. This is what happens when someone makes unsubstantiated charges, and someone calls them out on it.
hd 1981 October 22, 2012 at 07:50 PM
This is what happens when you deal with wack jobs who think t he glass is half full when it half empty. Case closed.
slyfox1961 October 23, 2012 at 03:48 PM
@hd 1981: so is that your final answer? I am a whack job? As I had suspected, you cannot back up your unsubstantiated charge against the administration with fact, so you resort to name calling like a spoiled child. NOW the case is closed, and you lose.

Dumb fox didn't know this was a contest. So in your shallow mind you win, CONGRATULATION. You win a cocktail evening with Johnny Mac.
slyfox1961 October 25, 2012 at 02:27 PM
@hd 1981: the name calling continues as you evade answering the question, because you have no response to back up your baseless allegation that MAC controls who rents stores on Main Street. I am done wasting my time with you. Everyone reading this can see how transparant you are.
hd 1981 October 25, 2012 at 02:40 PM
The facts are true. I've tried to rent a store front and was told it didn't fit the plans for Main St. The "TRANSPARENT" thing is that there is no plan! So as I stated before congrats you win and the stores are still empty.
