Raritan Bay Medical Center Receives an “A” for Safety

Raritan Bay Medical Center, with locations in Old Bridge and Perth Amboy, received an “A” grade for patient safety in The Leapfrog Group’s recently released Hospital Safety Score update.  The Hospital Safety Score assigns an A, B, C, D or F letter grade to local hospitals based on its safety in preventing errors, infections, injuries and medication mix-ups.

Compiled by the national organization focused on patient safety, the goal of the Hospital Safety Score is to reduce the more than 180,000 yearly deaths from hospital errors and injuries by publicly recognizing safety and exposing harm.  The Leapfrog Group Hospital Safety Score program grades hospitals on their overall performance in keeping patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors. The grades are derived from expert analysis of publicly available data using 26 evidence-based, national measures of hospital safety.  Hospital scores can be viewed at www.hospitalsafetyscore.org.
