Woodbridge Gears Up for Independence Day with a Sewaren Fireworks Fete

It'll be a day-long party celebrating the 4th at the Williams Waterfront Park.

Woodbridge will be ‘Bringing the Night to Life’ this 4th of July.

That’s the name given to the spectacular Independence Day concert and fireworks celebration planned against the backdrop of the Sewaren waterfront at Alvin P. Williams Memorial Park Friday night.

The park will be closed until 4 pm so it can be made ready for the evening’s festivities.

More than 7,000 revelers attended last year’s celebration, officials estimated.

The fun stuff starts around 6:30 pm with Woodbridge Idol contestants performing for the crowds. Kelly Peterson, the popular winner of this year’s Idol contest, will be on hand to sing the National Anthem.

Before and after the Independence Day light show, The Party Dolls band will perform for the expected thousands of patriotic partiers.

And then the fireworks will really begin.

The nationally renowned Pyrotecnico Fireworks is in charge of night sky painting with a pyrotechnics display that is second to none.

The company plans on firing off more than 12,000 bursts for the fireworks displays. The shots are fired electronically by computers, which in turn are synchronized to a program of patriotic and contemporary music selections.

All throughout the day, vendors will be selling food and drink for celebrants who forget their picnic baskets.

Gates for the fireworks celebration open at 4 pm. Revelers are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets, and township officials remind partiers no alcoholic beverages are permitted inside the park.

The weather promises to be wonderful, but just in case, the raindate for the fireworks party will be on Saturday.

The evening’s entertainment is being funded by ‘We Care, We Share.” The group is a consortium of local businesses chaired by Albert Jasani, proprietor of Royal Albert’s Palace in Fords.
