Remember George Washington? The birthday of the first president of the United States on February 22 became a federal holiday, first observed in 1879.
President Abraham Lincoln was also born in February. Since the passage of the Mondays Holidays Act in 1971, both Washington and Lincoln's birthdays have been celebrated on the third Monday in February - Presidents' Day.
