Veterans Day Parade Set for Sunday

The parade celebrations begin at 1:30 pm, marching from Ross St. School.

Veterans Day will be celebrated this Sunday, Nov. 6 in Woodbridge with a parade that begins at Ross St. School at 1:30 pm and wends it way down to Town Hall on Main St.

Township veterans and military personnel will be joined in the parade by marching bands and other community groups in honoring the service of veterans throughout the area.

According to township officials, the veteran groups on the parade roster include: American Legion Post #87, Woodbridge; American Legion Post #248, Colonia; American Legion T. Nulty Post #471,  Iselin; Avenel Detachment, U.S. Marine Corps League; Avenel VFW Post #7164; Colonia VFW Post #6061; Fords VFW Post #6090; Hopelawn VFW Post #1352; Iselin VFW Post #2636; Woodbridge VFW Post #4410; Korean War Veterans, Disabled American Veterans, Woodbridge Chapter #56;  and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Representatives from public service and emergency response units will join the parade, as well as scouting, youth, civic and historic organizations, the JFK High School marching band, the Black Hawk Drum & Bugle Corps, and parade dignitaries.

The Woodbridge Township Veterans Alliance named U.S. Navy Corpsman 2nd Class Bernice Gorman of Avenel as the 2011 Parade Grand Marshall.  Gorman served two tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.
