Township Partners with Ciel Power to Offer $49 Home Energy Audit

Want to save money on your energy bill? Woodbridge has partnered with an energy assessment firm to give you a $49 blueprint on how to do it.

It's the dead of winter, and the only thing that seems to consistently go up is your utility bills.

If you're looking to figure out how to save money, you might want to invest in a $49 home energy audit conducted by Ciel Power. The township is touting a partnership they made with that firm to offer Woodbridge homeowners an assessment of their energy use and how they can save money by making changes.

They say that a home energy assessment highlights specific repairs and upgrades that can save homeowners up to 30 percent on their utility bill. It's a means of participating in the New Jersey Home Performance with Energy Star Program which provides New Jersey residents up to $5,000.00 in rebates and up to $10,000.00 in zero-interest financing to cover the cost of energy-saving improvements to the home.

The audit consists of a technician using diagnostic tools to perform comprehensive safety tests and collect detailed information about the home. The audit explores weaknesses in each of the home's systems that may contribute to its overall safety, comfort, durability, and energy-efficiency.

The evaluation takes between two and four hours, the company said on their website. On a follow up visit, a consultant goes over the Home Energy Assessment and makes recommendations to increase energy efficiency, and provides details about rebates and incentives available to help pay for the suggested improvements.

For more information and to schedule an appointment, call Ciel Power at 201-632-3463.

Thanks Patch! We appreciate you helping to promote our town-wide Home Energy Assessment Program! The assessment is a great value and is the first step towards cash-back incentives and zero interest financing to improve the energy-efficiency of your home. www.cielpower.com/woodbridge

Great the lead story is free advertising for a company. How about reporting on something like the hearing being held today regarding the closing of the Woodbridge Developmental Center and exactly what plans does this town have for that property??? Why our local and state politicians have not fought for those residents and the people that will lose their jobs there??

Gam, I'd have been happy to report on the meeting; unfortunately it wasn't a local meeting. It was held in Montclair this morning. If YOU attended the meeting or you know someone who did, email me at deborah.bell@patch.com. I'd be happy to do a story on what's going on with the developmental center.

@Deborah...unfortunately I was unable to attend. If I find someone that did I will have them contact you. That being said-and in my opinion this subject should have been reported on before the meeting. There are people in this township that don't even know the place exists or the service it provides.....it appears it is too late now...

I agree with you, Gam. There are a lot of stories in a township with 100K people. There are a lot of stories where politicians ignore what happens to people. I'm working on several of those stories right now. As far as the developmental center is concerned, I learned about this meeting in Montclair two days ago, and because of prior commitments, I couldn't make it. If you know of anyone who wants to talk about what happened, please have them email me. I'll do a story on it.
