Springwood Swim Club Gains Nearly Seven Acres of Open Space

The acreage will be designated as open space and remain undeveloped.

The Springwood Swim Club in Colonia will see its land expand with the purchase of more than six acres of open space through a county-sponsored open space grant.

According to a press release from mayor John McCormac's office, the $420,000 grant will add 6.64 green acres to the property that will remain undeveloped.

“We truly appreciate the county’s consideration and funding assistance in the purchase of this open space property,” McCormac said, at a Thursday press conference announcing the grant. “By preserving this land, the County of Middlesex is sending a clear message that further development in this area is not consistent with smart growth and that keeping the area as open space compliments the Township’s continuing efforts to ensure environmental preservation.”
