Mayor to Deliver State of Twp Address

Find out what's on Woodbridge Mayor McCormac's mind at a Chamber of Commerce event.

Mayor John McCormac will be giving his annual State of the Township address, to be held on Tuesday, January 29, at 12 noon at the Forge Restaurant on Route 9.

In light of Hurricane Sandy that devastate sections of Woodbridge, and all the other issues affecting the township, the mayor will be addressing the business community on various topics. The township's newsletter said that he "will focus on 'Quality of Life' concerns, the economic climate of the  township, and strategies for maintaining Woodbridge as the best municipality in the state in which to live, work, and play in the New Year."

The cost for the luncheon, sponsored by the Woodbridge Chamber of Commerce, is $55 for Chamber members and $75 for non-members. It starts at 11:30 am with a cash bar.

Sponsorships are also available. For more info, call the Chamber at 732-636-4040.

Another Mac party at the Forge. I know there is a charge but I'll bet that doesn't cover it and the rest is coming from the pockets of the already suffering Woodbridge taxpayers.

I would think that a minimum of $55/pp with a cash bar would more then cover the cost of luncheon at the Forge.

the State of the Township address should be given in a large auditorium with overflow space for the RESIDENTS OF WOODBRIDGE TOWNSHIP. After we are the TAXPAYERS and VOTERS who put him in office. And it should be FREE for the residents! I would like to hear about the quality of life in the Watson Ave neighborhood.

Nuvo I actually agree with you on that...however the state of the state and the state of the nation addresses are also by invite only,so I guess that tradition continues on the local level.

Why does a government sponsored state of the union address need booze at 11:30 am on a Tuesday afternoon?
gam January 14, 2013 at 10:38 PM
It is a cash bar...no one says you have to have a drink....again it is a luncheon...Don't you people get out? I have been to many work related luncheons where alcohol is available for those that are interested. Really is the most important issue here that a bar is open for business and you can buy a drink during a luncheon?

What kind of quality of life can the Woodbridge taxpayes have if their tax bills cause it they can't go out and have extra's. All are slave to their homes. Then let's not forget the poison dirt pile Mac is making into a park. Sounds like quality to me!!!!!
Irina January 14, 2013 at 11:34 PM
Doesn't look like Mac has missed any of the bar stools in Woodbridge. I hear after he knocks back a bunch the police drive him home. Thant's your tax dollars at work.

@gam: the people who post here are not interested in the content of the article. THey are only interested in having a forum in which to trash anything McCormac and Woodbridge. They believe everybody in the township is living on a fixed income, and can barely make ends meet. They will use any and every excuse they can to trash talk anything and everything the mayor and council do. They refuse to except the fact that their guy lost the election, and that the majority of residents in the town actualy have decent jobs and like what the town is doing, and appreciate the skate park mini-golf, and the other ammenities that the town provides.
Irina January 15, 2013 at 08:38 PM
@slyfox1961 WRONG AGAIN, Mac
gam January 15, 2013 at 10:33 PM
slyfox1961-I agree with most of what you write. I however think the mini golf was a waste of taxpayers $, am unhappy with the mayors plans to make Avenel a dumping ground for low income housing by using Rahway Ave property near the prison, would like to see the mayor encourage business in the township that would or could utilize empty store front properties instead of new building, and was unhappy with the way he handled the AVenel First Aid Squad issue.....but thats what Im concerned with...issues...not the menu at the luncheon.
slyfox1961 January 16, 2013 at 12:46 PM
@gam: I agree with yuo about the ridiculous comments most people make about non-isues like the menu options. I would guess some of the businesses that are coming to the town donot want locations on Main Street, they want newer large buldings on highways as part of their business plan. As far as the low income housing, there was an option being looked at where the town was looking to buy the forclosed houses throughout the town with the fund they have stashed away. I am not sure that is a good option. The Rahway Ave. location near the prison is a mostly industrial area now, and not many people would want to build a newer large home in that area, so I see it as a good area to concentrate the lwoincome housing. In all fairness and disclosure, I do not live in Avenel, so my opinion would likely change if I did. For the First Aid issue, I was happy to see him change his position when the residents wanted it back. I, for one, think that the Fire Dept. and First Aid Squads should be consolidated into three strategically located areas thoughout the township as a money saving measure. Your thoughts?

Jayzus, you'd think one Democrat in Woodbridge would learn how to spell "amenities," since they're so hopped on using taxpayer money to provide them. Slyfox, it's pretty crappy of you to mock people on fixed incomes. They pay the salary of your precious mayor and his underlings (many of whom just take money out of Woodbridge and don't even live here.) Those people you despise on fixed incomes SUFFER to pay their taxes. I thought Democrats were supposed to care so much about the poor, but that's definitely not the case in Woodbridge. Democrat hacks here are the RICH and look down their illiterate, low brow noses at those who haven't stolen their wealth from other people. Not surprising, though. Everything here is freaking Twilight Zone and totally bass ackwards.
slyfox1961 January 16, 2013 at 03:13 PM
@katy lake: is that the best you can do, criticize my spelling, rather than debate and defend your points? Please point out to me where I state I "despise" and am "mocking" people on fixed incomes. You can't, because I have not, you are flat out lying. And for your information, I did not even vote for MAC, I am a registered Republican. But that does not mean that I have to criticize everything that he does, like you partisan extremists do. And as far as employees’ "taking money out of Woodbridge" who don't even live here, they do provide a service for their employment, don't they? Perhaps if you didn't sound like a bitter, immature school girl, and actually made valid adult points, you would have some credibility in your posts.
Katy Lake January 17, 2013 at 12:00 AM
Slyfox, you're as Republican as Mao Tse Tung, and you have such a mancrush on McCormac, it's not even funny. There is virtually nothing he does you don't adore. Why ARE you a Republican, if that's even true? Does this go back to the days when the weak Republican party in this town was infiltrated by Democrats to make sure it stayed weak and in disarray? Saying people in Woodbridge who enjoy the 'amenities' (I love the use of that word, as if McCormac was running a luxury hotel), have "decent jobs", and then implying all those poor folks who suffer and struggled to pay the taxes that pay for the 'amenities' is simply obscene. I must've missed where your Master held a town hall meeting to ask residents - not the shills he drags in fill seats at council meetings, but real people who pay taxes and wonder what the hell is wrong with this town - if it's OK with them that he sign a credit card payment in their name to put up an idiotic 'miniature golf course' that is such a burden and such a flop he has to spend tens of thousands more hiring another political shill to try and sell it. Your master doesn't give a damn what Woodbridge residents think. He's got an army of shills and zombies who can do one thing, and one thing only: go into a voting booth and pull the Big D for DemoDummy lever all the way down the column, in return for town jobs for them and their subnormal families. Making fun of the working poor just sucks. I doubt you're capable of shame; no Democrat is.
slyfox1961 January 17, 2013 at 12:27 AM
@katy lake: because I don't fit your definition of a republican means nothing to me, as you obviously don't know what one is. You still didn't point out to me where I mock and demean fixed income people. Your statement "...and then implying all those poor folks who suffer and struggled to pay the taxes that pay for the 'amenities' is simply obscene" is incoherent and not understandable. So called republicans such as you are what gives the party a bad name, and is exactly the reason moderate and independent folks want nothing to do with the party, and the republicans keep losing elections. Basically, I am done wasting my time with you, as you have nothing of value to say, just shrill, immature complaints with no merit.

Does the $75 fee include air filters for the carcinogens floating around from that poison dirt?
Tamara Winfrey January 17, 2013 at 12:37 AM
Yeah, that did strike me as a little early for libations.
