It's Not Too Late for Flu and Pneumonia Shots

You can get them at a reasonable price in Woodbridge this Thursday.

Did you miss the flu and pneumonia shot clinics? It's not too late.

The Woodbridge Health Dept. has scheduled a flu and pneumonia vaccine clinic for this Thursday, Nov. 10. The clinic will be held from 4:30 to 7 pm at the Woodbridge Health Center, next to the Woodbridge Main Library.

The flu and pneumonia vaccine shots use a standard needle and are free to Medicare patients with a valid Medicare card.  For all others, the cost of the flu vaccination is $15 and the pneumonia vaccination is $60 for non-Medicare and all other patients.

Officials at the health dept. recommend the flu vaccines for adults over age 50, health care providers, caretakers for high risk patients, residents of nursing homes and other institutions housing long-term care patients, women who will be in the second or third trimester of pregnancy during flu season and individuals with chronic heart and lung problems, diabetes, and/or conditions that lower body resistance.  

Healthy adults 65 years of age and older, or who have chronic heart and lung disease or serious chronic disease that may affect the lungs should receive the pneumonia vaccine.

Township residents are encouraged to call the Health Center’s Nursing Division at 732-855-0600, ext. 5011 or 5012 for more information, as should individuals with handicapped issues who need to schedule an individual appointment.
