'Operation Take Back' Set in Middlesex County

Dispose of unused and/or unwanted prescription drugs October 29 in various New Brunswick locations. From 10am to 2pm, the Middlesex County Coalition for Healthy Communities will be among the organizations to host Operation Take-Back. The event offers you the opportunity to properly dispose of potentially dangerous expired, unused prescription drugs.Β 

Most Middlesex County municipalities along with Rutgers University will be participating in the event. For more locations visit www.dea.gov and click on "Got Drugs?"

The service is free and anonymous. New Brunswick locations include: the New Brunswick Police Department, 25 Kirkpatrick St., the Middlesex County Family Courthouse, 120 New Street and the Rutgers University Student Center, 126 College Avenue.

Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends and from household medicine cabinets. The usual methods for disposing of unused medicine such as flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash can be potentially hazardous.
