Flu and Pneumonia Vaccine Clinics Open to Public

Two flu and pneumonia vaccination clinics will be held this year for local residents. On September 27 from 9:00 a.m to noon, residents can attend the clinic located at the Evergreen Center, 400 Inman Avenue in Colonia.

The second clinic will be held October 4 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Woodbridge Health Department, 2 George Frederick Plaza in Woodbridge.

The cost of a flu shots is $15 for non-Medicare participants. There is no charge to Medicare recipients but participants must present a Medicare card to receive a free vaccination.

Pneumonia vaccines will not be discounted and will cost $60 to all who participate in the clinics. Check with your health insurance company for possible reimbursement of the charges.

Individuals age 65 and older should receive one pneumonia vaccination every five years. The vaccination is not recommended for those under age 65.
