Luban is Mayoral Pick, Boros Replaces Diaz on the Republican Slate for the June Primary

WTRO committee members approved Susan Boros for the at-large council seat nomination; Councilman Bob Luban will head the ticket as the mayoral nominee.

Susan Boros will replace Nelson Diaz as an official candidate in the June primary for one of the at-large council seats on the Republican slate.

Committee members met Monday night to vote on the Woodbridge Township Republican Organization's (WTRO) list of recommended candidates for the at-large council slots. The WTRO had initially put forward Diaz as a candidate, but the offer was rescinded by the organization.*

The WTRO executive board decided to replace Diaz with Boros, and made that recommendation to committee members. Diaz, the WTRO member said, did not resign the council seat nomination of his own accord.

The committee members approved Councilman Bob Luban to head the ticket by taking the Republican nomination for the mayor's seat. He will face Democratic incumbent Mayor John McCormac in the general election.

In addition to Boros, Scott Brescher, Anthony Cuntala, and Kenneth Russo were picked for the other at-large council Republican slots that will be up for grabs in November. They will face Democratic incumbents James Carroll, Gregg Ficarra, Brenda Velasco, and Kyle Anderson, who currently hold the at-large council seats.
