Wear a Safety Helmet, Get a Free Ice Cream, Police Tell Kids

The Woodbridge Police Department is teaming up with Colonia Dairy Maid to promote helmet safety.

Woodbridge Police are teaming up with Colonia Dairy Maid to reward children under the age of 17 a free ice cream cone for wearing their helmet.

If officers on patrol spot a child wearing a helmet on a bicycle, scooter, skateboard or rollerblades they will issue them a “safety” summons which is good a free ice cream cone at Colonia Dairy Maid.

Mayor John McCormac and the Woodbridge Police Department announced the summer bicycle safety campaign on Tuesday along with Joe Pipala owner of Colonia Dairy Maid.
 
Pipala was presented with a sign recognizing a partnership between Colonia Dairy Maid and the Woodbridge Police Department.
