8-Pound Pot Exchange Intercepted at Post Office

Woodbridge pair arrested as they waited for the drugs worth $51,000, police said.

Two Woodbridge residents were caught as they waited to pick up an eight-pound package of marijuana Friday from the Linden Post Office, police said.

Elaine Marie Lucas, 49, of Iselin, and Zachary E. Cohen, 25, of Fords, were each charged with possession and distribution of a controlled dangerous substance as well as distribution counts, according to Linden Police.

Lucas attempted to claim the package, believed to be worth $51,000,Β at the Linden Post Office when narcotics detectives arrested her, the article said. As Cohen saw her being arrested from his parked car, he sped off and was later arrested, Linden Capt. James Sarnicki said.

Both Lucas and Cohen are being held in Union County Jail on $150,000 bail awaiting an Aug. 9 court appearance.Β
