Person in Custody Following Turnpike Pursuit

The pursuit began on the Turnpike in Woodbridge.

A person is in custody following a pursuit that began in Woodbridge and ended on the Newark-Elizabeth border on Friday, according to New Jersey State Police Sgt. Adam Grossman.

No one was injured during the pursuit, according to Grossman. The pursuit began at 9:20 a.m. in Woodbridge, going north on the N.J. Turnpike. The pursuit eventually left the turnpike, and the driver was taken into custody at 9:40 a.m.

Police could not confirm earlier reports that the suspect was speeding in excess of 100 miles an hour.

No identity for the suspect is available at this time. No further information was immediately available.
