Police Director: 'We're As Prepared as We Possibly Can Be' for Andrea

Right now, Woodbridge emergency management officials are keeping their eyes on the skies.

Remnants of Tropical Storm Andrea moving through northern New Jersey are manifesting themselves through spotty rain and foreboding skies, and local emergency responders are at the ready to try to avoid flooding and keep the public safe.

Woodbridge Police are in contact with the township Office of Emergency Management to ensure a plan is in place for dealing with whatever potential problems that could arise, said Police Director Robert Hubner.

"We know where our problem areas are and we are on standby to monitor the situation," Hubner told Patch. "We have plenty of manpower, and we are used our experiences dealing with Sandy and Irene to [formulate a preparedness plan].

"We are as prepared as we can possibly be at this point," he said. "The big thing is to keep an eye on the weather."

According to the National Weather Service, Woodbridge could get as much as five inches of rain in the next several hours. Andrea's remainders are expected to stay in the area through Friday night.

"We could experience heavier rain later this afternoon and evening, and it's a fast-moving storm," Hubner said. "Hopefully by morning we should get some relief.

"We're keeping our fingers crossed that all goes well."
