Hopelawn's former fire chief, Bruce Turcotte, died at the scene of a Menlo Park Terrace blaze in January. Now he'll get a Hopelawn park renamed in his honor.

The park, on Clyde Avenue, adjoins Hopelawn's former Elementary School #10, which was closed down years ago for lack of enrollment. The park has a playground and a baseball field.
Turcotte died in the line of duty on Jan. 19 as he was responding to an . The former fire chief was setting out hoses when he was last seen alive. While scores of firemen from throughout the township were focused on the blaze, Turcotte had passed out in the fire truck he had driven to the scene.
He was declared dead at the scene.
The renaming ceremony is set for 1 pm.
