Alleged Carjackers Who Led Police on Pursuit ID'd

A third man remains at-large after Woodbridge carjacking and pursuit that ended in Clark on Tuesday.

Two men have been charged while a third remains at-large following a Woodbridge carjacking, an attempted vehicle theft in Newark and a pursuit that ended in Clark on Tuesday, police said.

Quincel Scott, 19, of Newark, was charged with carjacking, making terroristic threats, conspiracy, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes and unlawful possession of weapon. Yves Augustin 23, of Rahway, was charged with carjacking and conspiracy.

According to Woodbridge Police, a Mercedes was carjacked at gunpoint while stopped at a red light Tuesday morning at the intersection of Green Street and Route 27 at about 6:45 a.m.

A vehicle pulled up next to a 2010 Mercedes E350, a man exited the vehicle, pointed a handgun at the driver of the Mercedes and ordered him to get out of the car, Woodbridge Police Capt. Roy Hoppock said.

Scott and Augustin took off in the vehicle on Route 27 and thenΒ attempted another carjacking in Newark, but when police arrived the men took off and eventually ended up in Clark where they were arrested. A third carjacker remains at large, according to police.

Clark Police, State Police and a state police helicopter assisted with the search for the third man on Tuesday.

Just before midnight on Monday, a car was stolen from the Exxon Gas Station on Oak Tree Road in Iselin, after the owner entered the convenience store and left his keys in the ignition, according to Woodbridge Police.
