Alleged Carjackers Who Led Police on Pursuit ID'd

A third man remains at-large after Woodbridge carjacking and pursuit that ended in Clark on Tuesday.

Two men have been charged while a third remains at-large following a Woodbridge carjacking, an attempted vehicle theft in Newark and a pursuit that ended in Clark on Tuesday, police said.

Quincel Scott, 19, of Newark, was charged with carjacking, making terroristic threats, conspiracy, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes and unlawful possession of weapon. Yves Augustin 23, of Rahway, was charged with carjacking and conspiracy.

According to Woodbridge Police, a Mercedes was carjacked at gunpoint while stopped at a red light Tuesday morning at the intersection of Green Street and Route 27 at about 6:45 a.m.

A vehicle pulled up next to a 2010 Mercedes E350, a man exited the vehicle, pointed a handgun at the driver of the Mercedes and ordered him to get out of the car, Woodbridge Police Capt. Roy Hoppock said.

Scott and Augustin took off in the vehicle on Route 27 and then attempted another carjacking in Newark, but when police arrived the men took off and eventually ended up in Clark where they were arrested. A third carjacker remains at large, according to police.

Clark Police, State Police and a state police helicopter assisted with the search for the third man on Tuesday.

Just before midnight on Monday, a car was stolen from the Exxon Gas Station on Oak Tree Road in Iselin, after the owner entered the convenience store and left his keys in the ignition, according to Woodbridge Police.

Time to move out of Woodbridge, this is too close for comfort!

This is ridiculous. This is why we are against them building "condos" on Avenel St. Its not gonna attract commuters and artists as the assume. When their plan fails they will section 8 all those condos and its all over from there!!!!! I have seen it happen in Elizabeth. Its not a good thing!!! Thought moving to Woodbridge was a good move but I was WRONG in every way!!! Most corrupt town in NJ!!!! It seems to me that they are inviting crime!!!

I move out of Woodbridge in April to Raleigh, NC. Best move ever. My only concern is I still have my house there (renting it out), so with the town going to hell so will my property value. With Perth Amboy to the south, Rahway and Carteret to the north, it was only time before the criminals started to infiltrate.

I think the wrong people are being helped to move in woodbridge! That is all I have to say! Not trying to discriminate! Responsible people is what we need!

Maybe if the court system would take these things more seriously, there would be less thugs in our communities. Want to make a bet this is not the first time these losers have been arrested?

Nothing will be done with these lowlifes until they kill someone and maybe not even then. They all started coming in by train and now they live here. I try not to go anywhere alone in the daytime anymore. Eventually all these towns will resemble Newark...what a shame we can't get away from them :( We all better get out while we still can. Damn politicians won't do anything to help keep us safe. Our taxes keep going up while the safety keeps going down. Keep the animals out of here our town USED to be safe and beautiful!!
