Long Valley Man Injured in Parkway Overturned Vehicle Accident

Ian Sullivan, 25, of Long Valley was charged with a DWI offense after he was extricated from his overturned SUV.

A Long Valley man who was trapped in his SUV after an early morning accident on the Parkway was extricated from the vehicle and charged with driving under the influence.

Ian Sullivan, 25, lost control of his vehicle, a Chevrolet Tahoe, at around 3:46 am Monday morning when it flipped over, said NJ State Trooper spokesman Christopher Kay.

Sullivan was traveling southbound on the Parkway when his vehicle overturned near a Woodbridge rest area in the Colonia section of the township . He was the sole occupant of the SUV, Kay said.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Sullivan was released from his vehicle by Iselin Fire Department personnel, and treated for his injuries by EMS workers from Avenel-Colonia First Aid Squad and paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway, Kay said.

Because of the amount of time it took to release Sullivan from the SUV and the cold early morning weather, paramedics requested that he be flown by Northstar helicopter to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.

Sullivan was treated for minor injuries and admitted to the hospital for further testing.

After the accident, Kay said, Sullivan was charged with the DWI violation.
