Linden Man Arrested in Colonia Home Invasion

Brandon M. Soares of Linden was picked up by Woodbridge police and charged with terrorizing and robbing two Colonia women.

A 19-year-old Linden man was arrested just hours after he allegedly invaded a Colonia home and terrorized an elderly, bedridden woman and a 15-year-old girl.

Brandon M. Soares, 19, was picked up at his mother's Linden home after he had spent the morning threatening two Colonia residents. Police said that they received a phone call on Friday, April 13, at approximately 9:46 am from a woman in the Broadway Avenue section of Colonia.

According to , Soares gained entry to the home and struggled with the 15-year-old girl and threatened her with a knife. After subduing the girl, police said Soares tied her up and demanded money, repeatedly threatening to kill her if she didn't cooperate.

The suspect eventually untied the girl and left, but not before he made off with a gold necklace he tore from the girl's neck, prescription drugs, and a $50 bill.

In the struggle, the girl sustained non-life threatening injuries. Woodbridge Police Captain Roy Hoppock said the girl was "shaken up, but in otherwise good condition."

The bedridden woman was not harmed, he said.

Hoppock would not say if the girl knew Soares, who claims on his Facebook page to be a 2010 graduate of . He did say that Soares has no adult criminal record, but he wasn't certain if he had committed any juvenile offenses.

Police picked up Soares at his mother's home several hours after the incident and charged him with multiple felonies, including kidnapping, burglary, aggravated assault, terroristic threats, possession of a weapon, possession of burglary tools, and other charges.

He is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Facility in North Brunswick on $200,000 bail. Soares will have to put up the entire amount to get out of jail, Hoppock said. The court did not allow a 10 percent option because of the gravity of the charges.

Soares goes by the name of 'Grim Havok' on his Facebook page, where he has several disturbing posts and images that appear to have negative connotations towards women. On March 30, he reposted a picture of pop singer Rhianna after her boyfriend, singer and rap artist Chris Brown, allegedly beat her.

Soares comment above that picture is to laugh.

On February 25, he posted, " "why do gooooood giiiiiiiiiirls .. like baaaaad guuuuuyss?" .. because they're [expletive] dumb."

The same day, Soares posted on his Facebook wall: "People take doing something for fun out of boredom so serious for nothing, if you don't like the [expletive] don't [expletive] read it and remove me. Simple as that."
