Former Perth Amboy Youth Pastor Sentenced to Prison

Jeffrey Mackintosh has been sentenced to 10 years in state prison for sexually assaulting a minor over 10 years ago.

A former Perth Amboy youth pastor has been sentenced to 10 years in state prison for sexually assaulting a child over a decade ago. 

Jeffrey Mackintosh, 48, of Phillipsburg, was sentenced Friday by Superior Court Judge Michael A. Toto. He previous pleaded guilty on July 31, 2013 to one county of aggravated sexual assault, according to a press release from the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office. 

Mackintosh, a youth pastor at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Perth Amboy from 1993 to 2004 was arrested at his home on July 19, 2012 after the victim, now an adult, contacted the Perth Amboy Police Department.

A subsequent investigation determined that while serving as youth pastor, Mackintosh sexually assaulted the then-12-year-old victim several times at the church between Jan. 1, 2000 and Dec. 31, 2000, according to the release. 

The assaults occurred at the church's former location on King Street in Perth Amboy. The church has since relocated the building demolished, according to the release.

Mackintosh must also register under Megan’s Law be subject to community supervision for the rest of his life, according to the release.
