Flames Shoot Through Roof of Grady Drive Home

A fire broke out in a Grady Drive home on Wednesday afternoon.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, officials received word of flames bursting through a home at 321 Grady Drive, according to reports.

When Patch arrived on scene at 1:40 p.m. smoke was billowing out through the roof and upper-level side windows of the Cape Cod-style home.

At roughly 1:49 p.m. firefighters seemingly knocked out all flames and smoke, but still were on scene. A hole in the roof was created from the fire and part of the roof was collapsing into that hole making it visible straight through.

Woodbridge Fire Department along with other township firefighters, Woodbridge Police and Avenel-Colonia EMS were on scene.

Director of Woodbridge Police Robert Hubner said they believe the owners were doing some type of work to the house causing the fire to break out. However, it is too early to tell and the cause of the fire still under investigation, he said.

According to neighbors, the owners of the home moved in just weeks ago.

Everyone was able to get out of the home safely, Hubner said.
