Update: Armored Truck Driver Dies in Turnpike Accident

The driver of an armored truck flipped over on the Turnpike near Woodbridge early this morning died from his injuries. His fellow guard survived.

An early morning accident on a rain-slicked New Jersey Turnpike caused the death of the driver of an armored truck.

Kamrul Bhuiyan, 45, of Jamaica, NY was pronounced dead early Wednesday morning at the accident scene near the northbound Woodbridge Exit 11 on the Turnpike. Bhuiyan was piloting the vehicle, an armored truck owned by Garda Security International, when he lost control of the truck, said NY State Police spokesman Trooper Christopher Kay.

The truck was travelling in the outer lane, Kay said, and "for some unknown reason," Bhuiyan's vehicle struck the guardrail and flipped over it into the inner northbound lanes.

The passenger, John Davidson, 45, of the Bronx, NY, was trapped in the truck, which lay on its side. He was eventually extricated and transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunwick, Kay said. Davidson's condition is unknown.
