Middlesex County Man Sentenced to Prison After Stealing $51K in Property

Norberto Campos, 31, was sentenced to nine years total, including a separate charge for first-degree felony robbery.

A Middlesex County man has been sentenced to state prison after acquiring more than $50,000 worth of stolen property and selling it on Craigslist.

Norberto Campos, 31, of Carteret, pled guilty to third-degree receiving stolen property in March. He admitted that between January and April 2013 he received the stolen items, including a 2007 Ford Econoline van, which was owned by a local plumbing company.

Jose D. Lopez, of South Amboy, supplied the vehicle’s contents. Lopez, known as “Cholo," was sentenced to 15 years in state prison in September 2013 after pleading guilty to participating in a stolen vehicle ring totaling more than $550,000, according to a June 9 press release from the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General.

Campos will serve nine years after pleading guilty to first-degree felony robbery in a separate matter. His sentences will run concurrently, according to the press release.
