Police Investigating Body Found in a Truck at Wakefern Lot

Police responded to a call about the body of a man found in a tractor trailer, parked at one of Wakefern's massive warehouses in Keasbey.

The body of a man lying in a tractor trailer in Keasbey was discovered early Monday morning.

Woodbridge police were called to the scene at Wakefern's distribution center on Riverside Drive around 12:45 am. The warehouse complex serves as one of their regional food centers.

The body was found in the cab of a truck parked in the back of the sprawling warehouse complex. The black cab was parked next to a slew of other trucks, most bearing the name. Wakefern supplies food to a number of its member supermarket chains, of which ShopRite is one of the largest.

Authorities were examining the cab of the truck after EMS workers had left the parking lot around 3 am.

A Wakefern employee who was directing traffic around the police and other vehicles in the rear of the complex had no comment about who found the man's body.

The Middlesex County medical examiner was also called to the scene. Police would not release the name of the man, pending notification of the family.

Wakefern, headquartered in Keasbey, is one of the largest food cooperatives in the United States with over $12.8 billion in annual sales.
