Avenel Woman Struck in Hit-and-Run Accident
The driver fled the scene but was located soon after in Metuchen, police said.
A 39-year-old woman was struck by a hit-and-run vehicle last Thursday while she was crossing St. Georges Avenue at Valley Road, officials said.
Ketty Sumampouw, of Philadelphia, hit the woman with her vehicle and left the scene, but was later stopped by Metuchen police when officers observed damage to her vehicle, according to MyCentralJersey.
The victim was flown to UMDNJ Hospital, but her injuries did not appear to be life threatening, Woodbridge Police Capt. Roy Hoppock told My Central Jersey. He added that Sumampouw was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident.
