Who is Representing Me in Trenton?
Opinion Poll: Legislative Priorities - middle class last?
In May 2010 I sat through the 'first ever' state budget hearing hosted by the legislators in the 19th District. They held the event at Woodbridge High School and wanted to hear the opinions of their 'constituents'. For over two hours, one group after another had their spokespersons asking for their portion of Governor Christie's proposed 2011 Budget cuts to be restored. At the top of my notepad I wrote, "I am a taxpayer. Who is representing my interests?"
Does anyone else feel that way? Have your interests been represented in Trenton? Also, are the stereotypes fair - that elected Democrats tax and spend and elected Republicans protect the wealthy?
