The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Summer is in full swing as we enjoy the hazy and hot days of August but cooler nights and school shopping days are not too far behind.

For seniors, preparing for the change of seasons is not just about planning fall excursions or watching the leaves change color but keeping ourselves happy and healthy through the long winter months. So, now is the best time to prepare your body and mind for these changes.

The best way to prepare is by getting your Medicare Annual Wellness Visit plus all you senior vaccinations including your Flu, Pneumonia and Hepatitis shots. Asking your doctor or pharmacist about a shingle shot isn’t a bad idea either.

Unlike an annual physical, all copayments and deductibles are waived for the Annual Wellness Visit. If you had a “Welcome to Medicare Wellness Visit” or Initial AWV, a Subsequent AWV is an update to your Health Risk Assessment including all your medications, allergies and senior vaccinations. Medicare provides senior vaccinations at no cost and can be administered at the same time as your wellness visit.

In less time than a Problem Oriented Visit (POV) that takes money out of your pocket, the Annual Wellness Visit plus your senior vaccinations can be performed in less than 30 minutes and does not cost you anything. More importantly, it keeps you on a healthy lifestyle path to enjoy those fall excursions and first days of school with your grandchildren.
