Obituary: Richard J. De Ieso, Jr., 81

Visitation is today and funeral services will be held tomorrow, May 15, for the former Woodbridge resident.


Richard J. De Ieso, Jr. died on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 81 years old.

Born in Union, he resided in Woodbridge for many years before moving to Clearbrook Village in Monroe Township 13 years ago.

De Ieso owned and operated Union Hill Road Coffee Shop in Irvington for many years before retiring in 1996.

He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean War, a communicant of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in Monroe, belonged to the Italian-American Club at Clearbrook Village and was a former member of , Woodbridge.

Mr. De Ieso was predeceased by a sister, Grace Shedlock.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Phyllis Curto De Ieso; three daughters, Marie Nina Christian, of Old Bridge, Carol Lange, of Hightstown and Barbara Fee of Hightstown; a son, Richard R. De Ieso III of Manalapan; a sister, Jeanette Ventura, of Edison, a brother, Pasquale De Ieso, of Livingston; and ten grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 14, from 4 pm until 8 pm at at 44 Green Street in Woodbridge.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, May 15 at 9:45 am from the funeral home, followed by a funeral liturgy at 10:30 am at . Β 

Entombment will be in Saint James Chapel Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church or the De Ieso Family.Β
